In the 1970s, we started out producing clothes made in Indian villages using hand-loomed cotton, local crafts and vegetable dyes. Today, we remain committed to these green fingered origins and encourage recycling and energy saving across our business. Take, for example, our initiative to reduce our air miles, our drive to get rid of any unnecessary packaging and our upgraded recycling facilities at our HQ.
Our goal is to operate in the most sustainable way we can. There is so much we want to do, but because we have to start somewhere, we're focusing on:

Reducing energy used per square foot in our UK stores, warehouses and Head Office through energy management initiatives.

Integrating eco friendly criteria into our shop design and refit programmes.

Ensuring that products are delivered by sea wherever possible. Our target is to reduce our use of air freight by 20% between 2009 and 2012.

Packaging & Waste

Implementing a "Green Action Programme" across UK stores and Head Office to make us more efficient at recycling and green housekeeping.

Introducing rainwater harvesting and expanded recycling facilities in our Head Office.
